ESAMON is an on-line real-time display facility that gives you up-to-the-minute information on the performance of your z/VM or VM/ESA system. ESAMON analyzes and records performance monitor data produced by the system, then generates real-time displays of this information. ESAMON also creates condensed history files that can be employed with ESAMAP, SAS and other CPM tools. ESAMAP is a flexible software product that analyzes performance data, and then turns that data into clear, detailed reports to aid your performance analysis activities. ESAMAP is designed to efficiently store, retrieve, and report from historical data (and raw data) for capacity planning and long-term performance trend analysis. It also provides "artificial intelligence" reporting by providing analysis of problem areas, and when appropriate, the solution to correct the situation. Velocity Software designed ESAMAP to produce the widest range of reports conceivable, giving you insight into all aspects of VM performance. You can gather information on resource contention, consumption levels, transaction response times, enhanced MDC, user service level - all presented in the clear format you need to manage, plan and control system resources. Dynamic reduction of raw monitor data to history files

ESAWRITE was made a stand-alone product in response to customer requests and is a complementary product to ESAMAP. ESAWRITE controls the collection, manipulation, and reduction of raw monitor data. ESAMAP reports may be run at any time using the history files. By continuously reducing raw monitor data to history files, ESAWRITE decreases DASD requirements for performance data by up to 95% without sacrificing performance information. The released DASD results in measurable cost savings and makes the disk space available for other applications.
